Updated Information - It's Not Too Late to Register!
Worship Formation Event
Red Lion on the River, Jantzen Beach, Portland

What is the "Worship Formation Event" about?
Members of the Oregon Synod have the opportunity to engage in conversations about worship and to help shape materials to be available for all synods across the ELCA.

Two members of the ELCA worship staff, Jennifer Ollikainen and Scott Weidler, will be present on Friday morning, each leading a session on the topics described below. Participants will be asked to offer their feedback, which will help the worship staff revise the materials to make them as useful as possible

The conversations are:
Evangelical Lutheran Worship: Scripture shapes the assembly
(Presenter: Rev. Jennifer Ollikainen)
The Bible shapes our patterns and actions in worship and draws us into God’s saving story. The Book of Faith initiative sets the stage to explore the biblical foundations of worship and reflect on how the public proclamation of scripture brings the book of faith alive in the assembly. (Presenter: Rev. Jennifer Ollikainen)

Evangelical Lutheran Worship: A deeper look
(Presenter: Scott Weidler)
Following the introduction of our church’s new worship book, many are asking for another opportunity to explore more deeply some of the theological, pastoral, and practical matters that are shaping liturgical resources at this time, especially as experienced in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

Please note: Although music does play a role in this liturgical conversation, participants in this workshop will not be focusing on music repertoire or leadership skills. Also note that lunches purchases are no longer available.

World Hunger and Assembly Quilts

Congregations are invited once again to bring to this year's Synod Assembly a handmade quilt for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal silent auction.   These works of art raised over $8000 last year to alleviate hunger throughout the world.  In lieu of purchasing a quilt, you are encourage to bring an offering with checks made payable to the Oregon Synod.  Please make sure to mark your donations in the memo line of your check for "World Hunger Appeal."

Designated Offerings at the Assembly
This year's Oregon Synod Assembly Offering will be split 50/50 between World Hunger Appeal and Lutheran Disaster Response NW.  You are encouraged to bring your congregation's offering with checks made payable to the Oregon Synod.  If you prefer to designate your entire offering towards one organization, please make sure to write  "For the Disaster Response in Oregon and/or Washington" or "World Hunger Appeal" in the memo line of your checks.

2008 Oregon Lutheran Youth Organization Convo
Youth Convo happens concurrently with the Oregon Synod Assembly. It is a great opportunity to come together with youth from around the state for fun and fellowship. We will be participating in round table discussions and meeting with Bishop Dave. We’ll be doing leadership development and electing next year’s OLYO Board officers. We will also have plenty of time for games and other fun activities.
