Humanitarian Crisis in Afghanistan

September 1, 2021

Beloved of Christ,

You probably join me in feeling heartache watching the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan unfold. As evacuations have taken place, many Afghani families are arriving in the U.S.—and we expect to welcome thousands more in the weeks to come.

Your help is needed to give them the welcome they deserve.

Many Afghan allies and their families are arriving with little more than the clothes on their backs—no money, nowhere to stay, and nothing to eat. With your support, we can help them get on their feet.
Your gift to Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCSNW) and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) will provide food, housing assistance, clothing, and other basic needs for our Afghan friends. Both Lutheran agencies are known for their excellent work and exceedingly low overhead, helping more of your dollars go to the people that need it most. Consider “liking” their Facebook pages (LCSNWLIRS) to stay informed and make giving easy in the coming weeks.

Your support is needed now more than ever. Please consider a gift as we help our newest neighbors rebuild here in the United States.

With hope, humility and love,

Bishop Laurie Larson Caesar
