Bishop's Convocation

Our Focus:
This year we will have three wonderful presenters to share in our Oregon Synod journey.

First of all, Dr. Diane Jacobson, Professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary and Director of the ELCA Book of Faith initiative, will be present to share in the Word as we study and pray together. http://www.luthersem.edu/djacobso/

Secondly, we will be treated to conversation with The Rev. Karen Brau of Luther Place Memorial Church in Washington, D.C. Pastor Brau will share the story of her prior parish of 18 years, Amazing Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Amazing Grace is the result of a courageous mission effort in a difficult part of Baltimore, MD. Pr. Brau will engage us in conversation about our own efforts to share sustainable and vibrant congregations here in Oregon. http://www.lutherplace.org/

Convocation 2010 will be an important time for us as rostered leaders of the Oregon Synod. It is important as we deal with our roles and opportunities at a time of financial, political, and internal polity concerns. Our Oregon congregations depend on us for solid leadership in such days, and I am most appreciative of your faithfulness in this regard. The convocation this year will offer time for sharing and reflection, worship, study, relaxation, and renewal. I look forward to being with you!
