Assembly Timeline for Deadlines
There are several dates to be aware of as you prepare for our Oregon Synod Assembly. Please note the following and be ready for action.
December 5, 2008: Pre-Assembly letter and basic information mailed to congregations and Oregon rostered leaders.
January/February 2009: Congregations are encouraged to elect their Assembly Voting Members at annual or other meetings of the congregation. As a rule each congregation is allowed two lay Voting Members. One should be a man and one a woman.
February 19, 2009: Final draft of the ELCA Statement on Human Sexuality with implementing resolutions and report on rostering to be released to the public.
March 21, 2009: Deadline for submission of Oregon Synod Assembly 2009 Resolutions and Memorials. Mail must be postmarked no later than March 21, 2009. Submissions by email to oregonsynod@oregonsynod.org must be in by 12 midnight that same day. (Please request a “read receipt” and note Resolution and Memorials in subject line.) Resolutions and Memorials are welcome any time before this date. All Resolutions and Memorials will be reviewed by the Synod Reference and Counsel Committee for suitability, readability, and acceptability.
March 21, 2009: Deadline for submission of Nominees for all Synod and Cluster positions. Vita information will be posted with the April 15, 2009 materials.
April 1, 2009: Voting Member registration forms in the hands of synod congregations and rostered leaders.
April 15, 2009: Resolutions, reports, and other pre-Assembly documentation posted on-line for congregational access and use.
- Please note: Due to printing and postal costs hard copies of pre-Assembly materials will not be mailed out. They will be available on-line for congregational use, but final hard copies will be available only at the Assembly itself.
April 30, 2009: Voting Member registration deadline. All registration forms should be postmarked by April 30, 2009 to avoid the late registration penalty.
May 22-24, 2009: Synod Assembly!
